TigerAlert (formerly PTENS) User Portal Registration

The TigerAlert emergency notification system (formerly PTENS) allows users to sign up through a user portal in order to manage your contact information and subscriptions to non-emergency messages. PLEASE NOTE: During the registration process, you will be asked for "the identification code that has been provided to you." This refers to your PUID number with a one added to the end (ex. XXXXXXXXX1). Your PUID number can be found on your University ID card.

  1. Go to
  2. For first time users, click “Sign Me Up!” on the lower right.
  3. Fill in your first name, last name, Princeton email and select a password (NOTE: This does not have to be your Princeton Ldap password, but can be any password of your choosing)
  4. Click the “I agree” button and choose “Continue”

  5. A confirmation email will be sent to your Princeton email address.

  6. When you receive the confirmation email, click the link in the email to activate your account

  7. The link will take you to a portal screen where you can set your Security Questions and Answers for the portal. After you’ve chosen each question and answer, click “Save”

  8. You should see a screen indicating that your activation was successful. Click “Login”

  9. Login using your Princeton email and the password you created in Step 2. Click “Login”

  10. In order to match your login credentials with your TigerAlert contact information, you must enter your 9-digit PUID number from your ID card plus the number 1 (Example 9999999991) as the “identification code”. Press “Submit”

  11. Enter any email address or phone number already associated with you in TigerAlert.

  12. Once a contact has been found, click the “Associate” button.

  13. Confirm each contact point is correct by clicking “YES, this is mine.” WARNING: If you do not confirm each contact point, you will no longer receive TigerAlert (formerly PTENS) messages to that number or email address. Click “Next”

  14. Choose to subscribe to the specific types of notifications you prefer. Hover over the name to read a description of each notification type. Click “Next”

  15. Manage your subscription preferences to each notification type by selecting “edit” next to each notification and choosing how you would like to receive these messages. When all finished, click “Done”.
  16. You can login to the portal at any time and adjust your subscriptions by choosing “Manage Subscriptions” under your username
