Mental Health Emergency

A situation is a mental health emergency if the individual poses a danger to themselves or others.

  • Call 911 or activate a blue light phone. Stay on the phone while the dispatchers assist you.
  • Stay with the individual and offer them reassurance.
  • Do not try to restrain or bar an individual from leaving; your safety is the priority.

If you are not sure if the situation is an emergency, consult with a counselor at Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS).  During business hours, call 609-258-3285.  After hours, call 609-258-3141.
